Growing up I was different from other children my age, I wasn’t into the music of my day. I was more the old-school type and loved music from my parents and grandparents time.
Growing up in the inner-city neighborhood, I faced racism. I had difficulties getting along with teachers in school, until Grade 9 when there was a teacher who I liked, and we seemed to have a lot in common. This teacher about my dads age who cared for me and often bought me things. He treated me as if I was his son. It made me feel welcomed and proud that I had a supportive adult in my life. I share my story to inspire youth and make sure they remember to reach out to a supportive adult in their life.
