Treasurer
Role of the Treasurer Committee Chair
The Treasurer plays an integral role in ensuring the organization demonstrates accountability and integrity in proper use of funds. The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing financial records and operates within the approved budget set by the Board of Directors.
- Monitor funds efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place
- Initiate and work closely with Executive Director on compiling documentation for preparation of financial statements by an approved external accountant at year-end
- Work closely with the Executive Director to update Quickbooks
- Report to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis
- Increase awareness of organization’s work, goals, and financial needs, including within own networks whenever possible
- Work with Executive Director and Chair to develop the annual budget
- Reports to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis - which includes but not limited to providing a detailed analysis (at the Board's request) on financial statement line items
- Provide assessment and suggestions of ways to improve the financial accounting cycle
- Minimum 2-year commitment required
Qualifications
- Must be member of YouthSpeak Board of Directors
- Exemplary communication abilities
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
- At least two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Dedication, commitment and availability to perform all duties of Treasurer role
- Previous Board experience an asset
