Mesha

(She/Her) Youth Facilitator/Speaker

In a world where conforming to societal expectations is encouraged, I strive to inspire and celebrate the unique differences that make us who we are. Growing up, I moved around a lot and this exposed me to both the joys and struggles of life. I experienced bullying, started an inclusivity club, attended a Predominantly White School (PWS), and experienced racism along the way. However, I tell my story to shed light on the pain caused by such experiences, as well as the strength and beauty that I discovered within myself, and that you can do the same. A piece of advice that I would like to share is that it is okay to feel your emotions and be upset, but don’t let that stop you from making new friends and enjoying positive experiences.

I share this quote as it got me through the uncertain times of my life and has allowed me to see progress as a journey, and see every day as an opportunity to grow: “For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.” ― Michelle Obama, Becoming

We are currently recruiting people who have a passion to contribute to the overall well-being of youth by joining our Board of Directors and/or other volunteer opportunities. The benefits of volunteering include excellent opportunity for involvement in a meaningful experience, the satisfaction of making a difference in the community and with youth, an opportunity to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds, the development of effective decision-making skills and an increased understanding of group dynamics and relationships.
