Toni
(She/Her) Youth Facilitator/Speaker
When I look back on my life I see pain, mistakes and heartache. When I look in the mirror, I see strength, learned lessons and pride in myself.
Growing up, I experienced bullying and faced a lot of experiences that affected my mental health. I experienced depression for a while, but soon my sadness started to turn into anger and to cope with that I became heavily dependent on marijuana. I also started to lack motivation, confidence and healthy relationships with important people around me. As I became older, I knew I wanted better for myself and it took a lot of healing, integrity and resources to become a better version of myself. I started working on my mental health more and found that martial arts and doing nails gave me motivation to keep going. Today, I always try to find ways to become the best version of myself by learning proactive coping skills, utilizing resources available for success and spreading awareness to try and help others who have ever been in similar situations. I want people to know to always be self-aware, resilient and have faith.

We are currently recruiting people who have a passion to contribute to the overall well-being of youth by joining our Board of Directors and/or other volunteer opportunities. The benefits of volunteering include excellent opportunity for involvement in a meaningful experience, the satisfaction of making a difference in the community and with youth, an opportunity to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds, the development of effective decision-making skills and an increased understanding of group dynamics and relationships.
